Archives of Clinical Dermatology (ACD) provides a new platform for clinicians, analytical dermatologist and trainees to share their knowledge and finding from clinical investigations and systematic understanding of skin biophysics. ACD is a journal which follows vigorously, timely peer-review policy and a rapid publication process. ACD aims to bring about a change in modern scholarly communications to facilitate and accelerate scientific discoveries and also to help disseminate research to a wider readership, gain media attention and demonstrate professional achievement through publication. The scope of ACD is to be a reliable journal of high-quality scientific evidence that would be leading in terms of attracting the best scientific work and scientists and having the highest impact factor among the dermatology community.
The subject area of ACD is broad, besides covering all of the subspecialties of Dermatology it also includes, biochemistry, biophysics, carcinogenesis, cell regulation, clinical research, development, embryology, epidemiology and other population-based research, extracellular matrix, genetics, immunology, melanocyte biology, microbiology, molecular and cell biology, pathology, percutaneous absorption, pharmacology, photobiology, physiology, skin structure and wound healing.
ACD features original research, analyses and reviews, news, practice updates, thought-provoking editorials, expert opinion articles, forward-looking perspectives, commentaries, image, and book reviews. We also welcome contributions that present innovative and improved methods, or resources having advance basic research with broad interests. ACD embraces new and emerging trends in science by periodically publishing special issues. All submissions to the ACD are subjected to impartial and thorough peer-reviewed process.
Dr. Martin Steinhoff received his double PhD ‘s from University of Marburg, Germany and UCSF, USA respectively. He is currently Chairman for Department of Dermatology and Venerology, Hamad Medical Corporation, Medical School, Qatar University &Weill Cornell University Doha, Qatar. He also, worked as Chairman, Director at Department of Dermatology, UCD Charles Institute of Dermatology, University College Dublin, Ireland. He had received number of honors and awards like Allergy Award [1996], Research Award Roche-Posay [2000], Oskar-Gans main scientific award, German Society of Dermatology [2001], Research Award of the Rosacea-Foundation, USA [2003], Victor von Bruhns Research Award of the Society for Wound Healing, Weimar, Germany [2004], Honor award: "Berlin Society of Dermatology" Berlin, Germany [2006], Research Award from National Rosacea Society (NRS), USA [2009, 2011], SFI-Pfizer Innovation Research Award from Minister of Health (D. English), Ireland [2016] and many more. His clinical research interests include Complex general dermatology, Atopic dermatitis, Rosacea/Acne, Melanoma, Wound healing, sclerotherapy. Dr. Dai received Bachelor and Master degree in Computer Science at Wuhan University in China. After that, he got admission in Computational Biology department at University of Southern California. During this PhD period, his main research focus is to integrate genome-wide genomics data to study gene regulation, particularly gene co-expression and exon co-splicing. After he graduated from USC, he continued to stay two more years there to finish a promising project to study the functional implications of spatial genome architecture. He later joined Dr. Howard Chang’s lab at Stanford as a postdoc associate, to further apply computation science, and statistical modeling to study chromatin structures of mammalian cells. His current work is to investigate which transcription factors and architecture proteins affect cell type specific promoter-enhancer interactions.
Dr. Sandeep Kumar is chief of dermatology section at the VA Medical Center, Lexington, KY. Dr. Kumar received his medical degree from Delhi University (Maulana Azad Medical College) and completed a residency in dermatology also from Delhi University (Lady Hardinge Medical College). Subsequently, he finished a clinical fellowship in dermatology from Harvard Medical School (Brigham & Women’s Hospital) and a research fellowship from Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston MA. He has published many papers, has been an investigator in multiple clinical trials, and presently direct tele dermatology expansion plan at the Lexington VA facility. Dr. Kumar's research interests lie in skin cancers, psoriasis, epidemiology, and store-and- forward tele dermatology.
Dr. Shahin Aghaei received his Fellowship of Dermatologic Surgery, Medical University of Graz, Austria, 2010 and Fellowship of ISD Dermatopathology, Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic, 2008. He is currently Associate Professor of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery of IRAN University of Medical Sciences, School of Medicine, Tehran, Iran.
Dr. Abbas Amini is an assistant professor at the Australian College of ACK and Western Sydney University, and the member of graduate supervisory board. After obtaining PhD, he conducted research with other Australian universities, as a postdoctoral research fellow at Monash and Deakin Universities, and as a senior research fellow at the University of Melbourne. His fine outcomes have been presented in high impact factor journals, e.g., Nature publication group, and a recent published book in 2016. Abbas is the editor of ten reputed journals, and the committee member of 20 international conferences.
Dr. Mohamed A. Al-Kamel's research interests have been primarily in the areas of dermatology and neglected tropical skin diseases (NTSDs), with emphasis on the neglected, endemic leishmaniasis disease. His research aims at serving and improving lives of affected populations, particularly rural women and children, as well as enhancing the scope of World's research capacity of NTSDs and reducing their-related morbidity and mortality. For that, his current research primarily concentrates on the epidemiological, clinical and pathological aspects, hidden dimensions and impact of leishmaniasis disease. Dr. Al-Kamel is a member of several international professional associations, such as AAD, ISD, IACD, ASTMH, ISTD and WOSIAM. He has served as an Associate editor, Editorial Board member, Verified Ad Hoc Reviewer for numerous journals, authored and published more than 30 original articles in various national and international professional journals, given lectures and presentations in more than 25 national and international dermatology conferences, and reviewed more than 35 research papers. Dr. Al-Kamel's achievement in dermatology, research and volunteerism has earned him several awards, such as American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Grant, European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) Fellowships, International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS) Scholarships, International Society of Dermatology Scholarships, International Foundation for Dermatology (Dermlink) Award, and Stiefel/GSK Grant.
Dr. Neerja Puri received her MBBS from Government Medical College of Punjabi University, India. She received MD (Skin & VD) from Government Medical College, BFUHS, Faridkot. She has 100 publications in various National and International journals and gave more than 40 paper presentations and guest lectures in various national and international conferences. She is life member of several associations like Indian Medical Association, Dermatopathological Society of India, Pemphigus and Pulse Therapy foundation, IADVL (Indian Association of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy,LM/P/5201), Association of Cutaneous Surgeons of India ( ACSI Membership Number – ACSI PB/ 513) and Member of Peer review committee of Journal of European academy of Dermatology and Venereology (2008 onwards).
Dr. Ramanjit Singh is a dynamic Cosmetic Dermatologist, leading the cosmetic and dermatology fraternity of Gurgaon with his extensive experience of more than fifteen years. He received his MD from JJM Medical College Davangere Rajiv Gandhi University Karnataka. He is the Organising Chairman of Facial Asthetic Dermatologist Group. He is a member of International society of Dermatology, Cosmetology Society of India, Indian Association of Dermatology and also life member of association of Cutaneous Surgeons of India. He is also amongst the few Cosmetologists who have brought the concept of Laser Spa in India. He is a Senior Consultant Department of Dermatology & Cosmetology at Medanta The Medicity. His areas of interest and expertise are Botox, Dermal Fillers, PRP treatments and Trichology.
Pramod Kumar Nigam, MD, MBA, MAMS, PGDIHL, FIAD, FRCP is Director Cum Professor & Head in the Department of Dermatology, STD & Leprosy, Pt.J.N.M.Medical College, Raipur-492001, Chhattisgarh, India. Dr.Nigam first earned a MBBS in 1984 and then MD in 1987 from the Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. After his MD, Dr.Nigam workrd as senior registrar at the Safdarjang Hospital, New Delhi. In the year 1988, Dr.Nigam joined the Department of Dermatology, STD & Leprosy, Pt.J.N.M. Medical College, Raipur-492001, Chhattisgarh, India as a teaching faculty on the post of assistant professor and got promoted to the posts of associate professor and then professor of dermatology. Presently he is working as Direcror cum Professor & Head, Department of Dermatology, STD & Leprosy, Pt.J.N.M. Medical College, Raipur-492001, Chhattisgarh, India. Dr. Nigam has published over 55 peer-reviewed scientific articles in various areas and has authored 2 Book Chapters. He also serves a member of several national professional societies, as well as editorial board member and reviewer of several scientific journals. Dr.Nigam has been awarded with FIAD (India) in 2012 and FRCP (Glasgow) in 2015.
The author presents a case of BCC developed on an active lesion of mucocutaneous leishmaniasis as one of many cases of skin cancer frequently seen at the Regional Leishmaniasis Control Center (RLCC) clinics in Yemen.
The author concerns that long-term application of biologics will destroy the natural balance, and argues to rethink about small molecules that can restore immune homeostasis, thereby naturally correcting overproduced proinflammatory cytokines, as a strategy of new drug development against psoriasis and other autoimmune disorders.
This case report shows the effectiveness of Apremilast in refractory ophiasis AA with a rapid and highly scalp-hair regrowth with a cosmetically important response.
