Annals of Surgery and Perioperative Medicine (ASPM) is a peer-reviewed open access scientific journal published by SciTeMed Publishing Group. The journal is dedicated to the global advancement of surgical research, education and clinical practice. ASPM aims to promote continued developments in surgery through the sharing of knowledge, innovated ideas across all surgical specialties. 

Annals of Surgery and Perioperative Medicine encourages articles focus on surgeries and implantation. This include surgical protocols, novel surgical techniques, research related to development of implants with new materials, biomedical and bioengineering contributions in implant related aspects, contribution of other engineering subjects including tissue engineering, biotechnological procedure, computer science, material engineering etc. ASPM welcomes authors to submit their articles in the forms of original research, review, short communication, case studies and case reports.

Annals of Surgery and Perioperative Medicine provides readers with critically peer-reviewed, carefully selected and up-to-date publications in the field of surgery. All the manuscripts submitted to ASPM will be subjected to peer-review by the Editors of the respective specialty section.The review process will be conducted by the handling editor alone or by collaborating with the outside experts. The decision will be finalized by the editor considering and analyzing the minimum of two independent reviewer’s comment. Authors may submit manuscripts and track the current status of their manuscript through the submission tracking system. Reviewers can download manuscripts and submit their comment to the editor through the same system, and editors can manage or monitor the whole submission/review/revise/publish process.

    Dr. Samhan is the Professor and Ex-chairman of Anesthesia and Surgical ICU Department in the Theodor Bilharz Research Institute, Ministry of High Education and Scientific Research, Giza, Egypt. He also serves as a Consultant Anesthesia in Misr International Hospital and a Med Anesth in the Medecins Sans Frontieres, Montreal, Canada. He is an instructor of Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS), European Trauma Course (ETC), European Resuscitation Council. Dr. Samhan's research interests include neuraxial blocks e.g. spinal anesthesia, continuous spinal anesthesia, epidural anesthesia, combined spinal-epidural anesthesia, TIVA, effects of anesthesia on coagulation, airway management, liver and kidney transplantation.
  • Chin-Lung Kuo, MD, PhD

    Dr. Chin-Lung Kuo earned his PhD from the Institute of Brain Science, National Yang-Ming University in Taiwan. He completed his otolaryngology residency, chief residency, and fellowship training at the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Taipei Veterans General Hospital, Taiwan. He has focused his research on auditory neuroplasticity as one of his principal areas of study. He has been the first author or corresponding author of more than 70 publications, including two book chapters, original papers, and reviews. His research paper was selected as the cover story of the journal "Audiology and Neurotology" in 2012. Moreover, Dr. Kuo was awarded the Outstanding Paper Award in 2013 by the Laser Medicine Education and Research Foundation as well as the 2015 Hayashi SPIO (Society for Promotion of International Otorhinolaryngology) Scholarship in Japan. Stanford University has recently published an update on the top 2% of most widely cited scientists across different disciplines, the World's Top 2% Scientists for 2021. This ranking, considered the most prestigious worldwide, is based on the bibliometric information contained in the Scopus database and includes more than 190,063 researchers from the more than 8 million scientists considered to be active worldwide, with 22 scientific fields and 176 subfields taken into account. The list recognized Dr. Kuo as one of the top 2% scientists that has brought great pride to Dr. Kuo and his research team. Dr. Kuo believes that a greater accessibility to research data can benefit both medical research and science education. He is pleased to take on the role of deputy editor for Archives of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, a journal that strives to provide a new venue for researchers to publish their research and advance the field of otorhinolaryngology.

  • Forearm High-Grade Fibrosarcoma

    A 43-year-old male presented with a 10-cm tumor in the left forearm that had grown progressively for 5 months. A pathological analysis confirmed a diagnosis of high-grade fibrosarcoma. The image on the rare entity contributes to the notion of this disease.
